Tell us more about the world, please. What can we learn about the world in the corebook? Can you give a primer, if you will, of the setting. Its main points and mood/vibe you want to transport to the reader/player.
The theme of the game is
What if nature had a way of striking back at civilizations urge to exploit and manipulate it, and the main conflict is that between the civilized Ambrians, the tribal Barbarians and the guardians of the forest of Davokar. The game is named after the ancient, now obliterated civilization Symbaroum, ruins of which can be found in and around the age-old and dark forest of Davokar. Noone knows exactly what happened to Symbaroum, but facts are that it must have been a swift destruction, and that the Symbarians were magically adept. From the days of Symbaroum, now for generations, barbaric humans have lived in the edges of Davokar, with strict instructions from the forest's elfish guardians. "Don't cross this river", "Don't hunt this beast", "Don't enter this field of ruins", rules and taboos on which the barbarians built their society and lived after for many years in relative peace with the beings of the forest. Then, enter the Ambrians. From across the mountains in the south, an expansionist queen and her people flee their war-ravaged lands and seek a new home south of Davokar. Their legends and their sun priests state that the lands are theirs by birthright, since the Ambrians are descendants of an ancient people who lived in the area, ages ago. So they arrive and begin to settle. They rise towers and castles, farms and mills, roads, bridges, cities, outposts, cathedrals. And soon, they begin to delve deeper into the forest. Finding treasures and resources in abundance. The elves of Davokar suddenly realizes that the humans no longer respect the old rules and taboos, and so they begin to strike back, hard. In this turmoil, the game begins. The players can take the roles of Ambrian explorers, bent on learning the secrets of Symbaroum and reap the treasures of Davokar. Or they can be barbarians who attempt to convice the new people that the forest should not be disturbed. Or free agents who don't wish to pick sides is this escalating conflict that gets worse and worse, as the forest of Davokar is about to awaken.
