Miles Davis in ConcertDie Platte ist eine weitere Liveaufnahme eines Miles Davis Konzerts der Siebziger Jahre. Es wurde 1972 in der Philharmonic Hall New York aufgenommen. Im Prinzip war das die Tour zum kurz zuvor veröffentlichten Album "On the corner". Wo dort allerdings kaum Platz für Soli war und sich auch die Bläser mittels fragmenthafter, kurzer Floskeln in den dominanten kollektiven Percussionsound einordnen, da ist im Livekonzert doch wieder etwas mehr Raum für längere Linien. Ansonsten werden brodelnde Rhythmen, verfremdete Sounds und dissonante Akkorde in einem beständiges Spiel von Verdichtung und Entspannung eingesetzt.
Die Youtube-Aufnahme ist interessant, weil sich da jemand die Mühe gemacht hat, die Titel der Stücke zu identifizieren und zu benennen (auf der CD ist einfach nur von "Miles Davis in Concert Part 1 - 4" die Rede). Durch die youtube-Angaben lässt sich daher nachvollziehen, dass sich Miles hier auch bei Stücken bedient, die er 1970 für den Soundtrack von "Jack Johnson" aufgenommen hat.
