Nein... KEIN Aprilscherz sondern harte Realitaet...
Auf dem
Amber Board bei GoO findet sich als Einfuehrung:
On 26 March 2004 Erick Wujcik and Mark MacKinnon signed a Letter of Intent to transfer all publishing operations for the Amber Diceless Role-Playing Game from Phage Press to Guardians of Order.
While the details of this deal have not been finalised, Guardians Of Order wishes to solicit input and suggestions regarding the publishing of a new line of Amber role-playing products.
We intend this section of our message board to be the "official" place for all community discussion regarding the DRPG revitalisation. There are several notes below that will provide some context to these discussions:
1. This deal is not 100% firm. Phage/Guardians must finalise our deal and the Zelazny estate must grant Guardians a publishing license. We are confident that we can make this opportunity work, of course, or we wouldn't have made the announcement this soon ... but it's not yet a done deal. We will let the community know when as we move forward and have more information.
2. Yes, we are big fans of Amber and the Amber DRPG. Our passion for Amber drives this deal.
3. We are interested in almost anything our supporters have to say, but we will not reply or comment on every idea or post. This does not mean we aren't listening, but we simply do not have enough time to interact constantly with potentially hundred of posts.
4. Yes, we plan to keep the core of the first edition diceless game system for a second edition relaunch. We will retool as necessary, but the Amber diceless game engine is staying.
5. That does not mean, though, that we are not going to explore other options as well. We will probably also publish a d20 System core book for Amber, since it makes financial sense and is good for the growth of the Amber RPG community. Nothing is set in stone, however. The sky is not falling; do not panic.
6. We do not have a release date for the second edition yet, but sometime in 2005 is our goal.
7. We do not have firm plans past releasing a core book. This is why we are soliciting opinions. Amber supplements, Amberzine, T-Shirts, Trump Deck, Ambercon involvement, translations, etc., etc., are all possible -- but there are no answers at this time. We have no information on format, price, page count, artists or writers, or content either.
8. No, we are not ready to hire anyone to write or develop or playtest anything at this time. You can certainly contact us, and we will keep your email on file, but we are not ready to commit to anything yet.
9. We intend to adhere closely to the Amber canon (Zelazny's 10 novels, plus short stories), but we will extrapolate beyond as well. We aren't Amber purists, but we have a great respect for Zelazny's vision of Amber.
10. No, it's not April Fool's Day.
Thank you for all your support, comments, criticisms, suggestions, and participation.
Goodbye ... and hello, as always.
