ich habe vor, demnächst mit meinen RPG-kumpanen das Projekt Pi-one-shot zu spielen. darin sind die PCs schlagkräftige spezialeinheitler der US Navy und Delta Force, die unheiligem treiben auf hoher see auf die schliche kommen und dann "Alien II"-like die geschehnisse wieder gerade biegen - soweit es geht.

angeregt davon, habe ich mir überlegt, wie ein Chtulhu Now- abenteuer aussehen könnte, das, gespielt von spezialeinheiten der Army Rangers, Deltas, und Special Forces, im kolumbianischen regenwald stattfindet. uU sind die chars dann agenten des CIA oder FBI, die Jack Ryan-artig in der drogenhandel-problematik oder bei einem regierungsumsturz in südamerika etwas cthuloidem auf die schliche kommen.

meine fragen :

ist sowas eurer meinung nach für CoC angemessen ? oder sind starke spielchars mit HK-MP5s, plastiksprengstoff und hubschrauber-unterstützung eher unangebracht ? ich weiss selbst aus längerer erfahrung, dass für CoC naturgemäss die 20er die beste zeit darstellen. aber der gedanke des actionfilm-szenarios mit CoC-horror reizt mich dennoch.

gibt es schon publikationen, die in diese richtung gehen, die man zur hilfe nehmen könnte  ? oer empfehlenswerte d20-abenteuer mit ähnlichem ansatz ?

habt ihr ideen, wir der cthulhu-background dann konkret aussehen könnte ? das Cthulhu Now-buch besitze ich leider nicht

Ich finde es nicht unangebracht. Hab auch schon gute Erfahrungen damit gemacht.

An Abenteuern mit "hoher Feuerkraft" fielen mir jetzt aus dem Stehgreif Vietnam '67 und Last Man Standing aus Zeitlose Ängste (spielt in den Dreißigern) ein.

Als Hintergrund würde ich was in Richtung Dschungelgottheit mit Ureinwohnerkult und bewußtseinserweiternde Drogen vorschlagen. Drogen, die es Menschen erlauben in ihnen gewöhnlich unbekannte Dimensionen vorzudringen, was für sie allerdings auch ein großes Glück ist.
Vormals wurde die Droge nur von den Schamanen der Eingeborenen für gewisse unsägliche Rituale verwandt, doch jetzt nutzt ein Drogenkartell die Pflanze für ihre Zwecke, baut sie im großen Stil an und bringt sie in aller Herren Länder unter die Leute - was natürlich grauenhafte Folgen haben wird, wenn es nicht gestoppt wird.

Nach Lovecraft-Maßstäben wäre so ein Abenteuer natürlich nicht sooo cthuloid, macht aber nix  . Egal, ob die Spieler jetzt mit Sturmgewehren oder mit Wasserpistolen spielen, das wichtigste Prinzip bei Cthulhu bleibt erhalten: Menschen treffen auf Unerklärliches, geraten an die Grenzen ihrer Erkenntnis.

Alien vs. Predator fand ich da eigentlich nicht schlecht. Viel Geschnetzel, aber es geht eigentlich um viel interessantere Dinge: Woher kommt doch gleich diese Pyramide unter dem Eis? Wer hat die nochmala gebaut?

Bei den Army Rangers kann ich dir weiter helfen. An den Rest würde ich mich nicht wirklich rantrauen. Bleib bei den Army Rangers oder Paras die sind schon hart genug drauf und da setzt du dich auch nicht in die Nesseln. Vielleicht noch ein oder zwei Green Berets...

Rangers add support positions

FORT BENNING, Ga. The 75th Ranger Regiment has a recently expanded list of military occupational specialties to include several positions in support functional areas.

Rangers are the U.S. Army Special Operations Command's light infantry unit. They have been actively engaged in the Global War on Terrorism since October 2001. Rangers were among the first troops on the ground during the initial stages of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. Today, they continue conducting missions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Support personnel play a key role in maintaining unit readiness, explained Master Sgt. Mark Chance, senior regimental support non-commissioned officer. "The regiment recognized the benefit of a complete support element organic to the unit," he said. "These Soldiers are an integral part of daily operations whether at home, deployed for training or deployed in theater."

The support positions are completely new so the Rangers are seeking motivated Soldiers to be part of their first generation of support personnel. "We are looking for Soldiers to be a part of regimental history," said Chance. "The Soldiers who fill these positions will define the Ranger regiment's support operations while simultaneously performing duties critical to continued mission success in support of the Global War on Terrorism."

Maintaining a qualified group of support Soldiers for a front-line war-fighting unit engaged in continuous combat operations requires knowing the latest in technology and tactics, techniques and procedures. This is why the regiment emphasizes ongoing training and education. "The Rangers are resourced to develop exceptional combat proficiencies," explained Chance. "This emphasis is not limited to the unit's infantry Soldiers."

Support Soldiers regularly have the opportunity to attend a variety of military and civilian schools relative to their respective MOS to enhance their combat readiness and personal abilities. "Everyone brings something to the fight and we ensure our Soldiers are trained to provide the high level of support this elite unit demands," he said.

Soldiers in the new positions will be permanently assigned to the regimental headquarters or one of three geographically dispersed battalions in Georgia and Washington.

PS: Rangers lead the way ist der Wahlspruch. Wenn man mit Rangern zu tun hat dann wird man das immer wieder zu hören bekommen, genauso wie das typische HOOAH. HOOAH wird fast überall benutzt um etwas zu zustimmen. Ist quasi das FULL ACK das man hier zu hören bekommen. Es wird aber auch in anderen Situationen benutzt

was das trainingsprogramm angehen würde, würde Darth Vader sagen : "Impressive".

ich sage dazu : ist 'ne tolle info und ich weiss, wie ich meine jogging-runden demnächst modifizieren kann, aber mit CoC hat es rein gar nix zu tun

der zweite abschnitt ist aber schon sehr cool, so detailiertes zeug steht noch nicht mal im GURPS Special Ops 
davon abgesehen—es wird keine realistische d20-denk-buchstabengetreu-an-alles-session werden. sobald sie in dem busch abgesetzt worden sind, können die specs per funk ohnehin nur noch Colonel Trautman  empfangen...

in der perfektionistischen hinsicht tobe ich mich nur bei den waffen aus, wenngleich CoC auch kein sehr kompliziertes combat system vorsieht, ganz im gegenteil. aber ich gehe davon aus, dass meine spieler zumindest etwas spass daran haben dürften, eine BFG-9000  , eine Vindicator oder eine M-203A mit sich schleppen dürften, ausnahmeweise mal ohne dafür hundert (shadow)runs gemacht zu haben  vom realistischen jetzt mal abgesehen.

wow, das ist ein tolles angebot.ich muss fairerweise dazu gleich anmerken, dass es für richtige fragen bei mir nicht reichen wird, da unser spiel solchen grad von realismus vermutlich nie erreichen wird.

Für Cthulhu wird es demnächst ein Waffenhandbuch geben. Alternativ gibt es da auch GURPS: Modern Firepower oder auch Seals in Vietnam, was man relativ günstig übers Internet beziehen kann.
