Kaiju Island was created by a powerful warlock from another dimension as his personal refuge. Hidden from the prying eyes of others, he was able to conduct his research into necromancy. 4 villages of peasants supplied him with the necessities of life. However, after years of recluse, the Jade Sarcophagus (the artifact enabling interdimensional travel) broke down and left the island stranded near the coast of a pseudo-Japanese culture.
While the warlock was distracted, Yadamoto and his men explored the island. The peasants were hoping to escape with the explorers and kept the existence of the warlock a secret. When the latter found out about this after several weeks of intensive work deep in the heart of the vulcano, he was furious and released the Kaiju. Undisturbed, he was able to repair the sarcophagus and the island disappeared into the void between the worlds.
However, fate helped Yadamoto to survive and when the Kaiju was resting again, he sought out the Warlock and slew him. However, without the arcane knowledge of the evil mage, the island started blinking into various worlds. This led to the addition of different cultures (like the Kenku) and the infection of the villagers with a berserker virus. Now the island has popped into Yadamoto’s world again…
