Auf dem Chaosium Con (diesen Freitag und Samstag) wurden in einem Panel drei in Kürze erscheinende Chaosium-Neuheiten vorgestellt:

Nach viel zu langer "Funkstille" in Sachen deutsches RuneQuest von Uhrwerk hat die zuständige Redakteurin nun auf dem Uhrwerk-Discord ein paar aktuelle Fakten/Updates gegeben. Ich habe die gestückelte Infos hier zusammengefasst:

"Die Deluxe-Karte der Drachenpass-Region ist in der Mache, die Drucksachen des GM-Packs, die länger im Druck brauchen, sind beauftragt (SL-Schirm, Abenteuer-Hardcover, GM-Ressourcenheft, Glorantha-Kalender) und der Kleinkram (Charakterbögen etc...) kommt in 1-3 Wochen dran, damit alles so gleichzeitig im Lager ankommt. Das ist der Plan, an dem sich zumindest von unserer Seite hoffentlich nichts ändert."
"Das SL-Pack heißt auf deutsch RuneQuest Spielleiterschirm-Set."

"Das Bestiarium – dessen deutscher Titel „Runequest – Das Bestiarium Gloranthas“ lautet, ist im Korrektorat bei mir. Da gibt es noch ein paar Kleinigkeiten zu ändern und dann geht es so schnell wie möglich ins Layout."

Mir ist bekannt, dass sich die "RuneQuest Starter Set"-Box in der Übersetzung befindet. Wann mit der deutschen Version zu rechnen ist vermöchte aber keiner der beiden an dem kleinen Informationsaustausch beteiligten Redakteure zu sagen.
Hoffen wir einfach still und heimlich auf den Jahreswechsel, oder zumindest das erste Quartal 2023. 


So viel ist zumindest sicher:
Auch wenn man wenig hört, hinter den Kulissen wird fleißig gearbeitet und BALD können wir die Früchte dieser Arbeit auch bewundern.

Auf BRP Central kam gerade ein Kommentar von Jeff zur langsamen Veröffentlichung von RQG-Büchern:

"The Cults Book is a big bottle-neck, as it requires Sim, Jason, Matt, and myself to push through. It is HUGE - we are talking Masks level of bigness, with far more moving pieces. That's basically the whole RQ-related team. At the same time, Jason and I are pushing through the Dragon Pass book, the Sartar Player's Guide, and a few other projects. What that means is once that goes through the process, a LOT will come out.

Now doing a collection of scenarios is much easier to produce than any of those books I mentioned, BUT those books move the entire line forward much more than a collection of scenarios would."

Die Sartar Box wird jetzt doch das Sartar BUCH!

Auf eine Frage eines Fans nach der Sartar Box kam als Antwort von Rick Meints von Chaosium: "We are doing it as a book now."

Nach den letzten Informationen die mir vorlagen hätte die Box aus dem Sartar Homeland booklet, dem Boldhome Guide, einem Kampagnen Heft, und einer sehr großen Detailkarte von Drachenpass und einer Karte der Stämme und Clans Sartars bestanden (das ursprünglich erwähnte 4. Heft, der "Dragon Pass Gazzetteer", wurde erst vor Kurzem insofern erwähnt, als das es jetzt aus der Sartar-Box ausgekoppelt wird und als eigenständiges Produkt erscheinen wird, da sich der Fokus von "nur Sartar" auf "ganz Drachenpass" verschoben hat und das Buch somit deutlich umfangreicher geworden ist als geplant).

Nach Rick Meints Kommentar können wird uns auf das Sartar Homeland Book / Sartar Players Guide freuen, welches wahrscheinlich in drei große Kapitel eingeteilt sein wird, die zuvor drei Hefte gewesen wären.

Ob die beiden zuvor erwähnten Karten nun dem Sartar Buch oder dem Dragon Pass Gazetteer beiliegen werden ist unbekannt. Meine Vermutung: Große Dragon Pass Detailkarte im Dragon Pass Gazetteer und die Stammeskarte beim Sartar Buch.


Ich hoffe ihr hattet euch nicht zu sehr auf eine weitere Box gefreut und seid auch mit einen Hardcoverbuch zufrieden.

Unser Vorteil: Druckaufwand und Druckzeit sind DEUTLICH geringer als die einer Box, womit das Sartar Buch um einige Monate früher erscheinen wird, als die Sartar Box erschienen wäre.

Jeff Richard hat in der RuneQuest-Gruppe auf Facebook eine kurze Übersicht zur "RuneQuest Campaign"/"Great Argrath Campaign" gegeben:

"As I work on the overall structure of the "RuneQuest Campaign" or the "Grand Argrath Campaign", there's some big differences between it and the Boy King campaign that I wanted to talk about. Like the Boy King campaign (aka the Grand Pendragon Campaign or GPC), it is divided into phases. During each phase, there are major changes to the setting - political, major NPCs, etc.

Lunar Occupation (1602-1621). This is the period of Lunar domination in Dragon Pass. The end of the phase has the Lunar Empire in seeming final triumph.

Rebellion (1621-1624). During this phase, the Lunar Empire suffers numerous reversals, while its foes seek new weapons against it.

Prince of Sartar (1625-1629). This is the default start of the Hero Wars campaign. The phase begins with the destruction of the Lunar Army in Dragon Pass with the Dragonrise. Sartar is liberated and Argrath rises to power. The phase ends with Argrath marrying the Feathered Horse Queen and becoming the King of Dragon Pass.

King of Dragon Pass (1630-1643). This phase sees Argrath as ruler of Dragon Pass. After nearly destroying itself with a civil war, the Lunar Empire desperately tries to recover its position but is defeated. In the end, Argrath adds the former Lunar Provinces to his empire.

Twilight of the Gods (1644-1655). The Lunar Empire strikes back with a vengeance, using Chaos and weapons taken from strange realms. Sartar is defeated, and a desperate Argrath performs a mad Lightbringers Quest that changes the world. Nightmares awaken, sheets of ice cover much of the world, and mutual enemies recognize themselves as mirrors of each other. The phase ends with the rise of the White Moon and the start of a New Age.
There are clear parallels with the GPC. As in the GPC, we have major NPC protagonists who drive many of the big events - Argrath, Red Emperor, Jar-eel, Harrek, and the Feathered Horse Queen. However, the RQ Campaign is less driven by a single NPC than the GPC, and even during the King of Dragon Pass phase, things are far less settled than in the Apogee of King Arthur phase.

There are of course events that are going to happen in any major campaign, and this is no different. However, the GM is free to change these events and nothing requires you to follow the campaign to its predestined end.

Also, the Runequest campaign is shorter than the full GPC. It runs from 1602 to 1655 - about 53 years from the fall of Boldhome to the rise of the White Moon. The full GPC is about 70 years (Arthur is awful old at that final battle!). Multigeneration play is still a possibility though. A character who starts play in 1625 at age 21 will be 51 years old when the Hero Wars end. A child born in 1626 will be initiated in 1641 and is ready for play in the Twilight of the Gods phase of play. They might not be as skilled as their predecessors but should have the advantage of inheriting their predecessors’ treasures and connections.

The ending of the RuneQuest campaign is much more open ended. The magic does not fade away - rather a New Age begins, one created in part by your characters' deeds and sacrifices. Everyone's Fourth Age is going to be different (and I am likely to ruthlessly insist on that!)."

Änderung bei den PDF und PDF+Buch Erscheinungsweise bei Chaosium Inc.


Rick Meints von Chaosium hat verlautbart, dass die Vorgehensweise bei der zunächst das PDF herausgegeben wurde und ein paar Wochen nachdem Rückmeldungen zum PDF in die finale Druckvorlage eingeflossen sind diese erst in Druck gegeben wurde, vorerst NICHT mehr so fortgeführt wird, sondern die Bücher der nächsten 6 bis 12 Monate zeitgleich als PDF und Druck erscheinen werden.

"Chaosium did a fairly detailed analysis on releasing the PDF first, followed by selling the printed version later (with PDF discount coupon). Please note, if your primary or main desire is to get the material (albeit in PDF) as quickly as possible, then there really is no debate about preferring PDF first. We get that, and respect that desire. Before I get into some of the results of our research, please be assured that we will still offer free PDFs with printed books purchased directly from Chaosium (plus Bits & Mortar). That also goes for purchasing a PDF first and then wanting to buy the printed book later. You will still get a discount coupon.

Here are some things we concluded or discovered during our look into "PDF first" or "PDF and Print at the same time":

- PDF first currently relies on crowdsourced editing. While that sounds nifty to some, it actually pointed out that we shouldn't be relying on such volunteer efforts to get us a fully edited/correct final book. That's not what professional publishers do. Our development process must produce books that are edited completely. It showed we need more professional editing. In no way should this be seen as a derogatory comment about all of the people who volunteer to help with crowdsourced edits, or the quality of what they do. We really appreciate all the volunteers.

- PDF first forces us to announce and market the book twice (PDF release and then printed book release), which makes each announcement have less impact as opposed to having a larger single campaign. The printed book needs to make the biggest splash when announced.

- PDF first means creating and processing a lot of PDF discount coupons, including combo coupons, when the printed book is sold. This is more time consuming than you think.

- PDF first means two versions of the "final" PDF are out in circulation, plus the inevitable desire to know specifically what the differences are, which is time consuming to explain and detail. Some even worry that all of the changes made might not make it into the printed version.

- PDF first also raised questions about its effect on total sales. Does getting the PDF early make someone more OR less likely to buy the printed book later?

So what does all that mean? It means we are seeing how things go with doing the next new releases as "PDF and Printed book at the same time". We've done plenty of "PDF first" releases to know what those are like. Once we have enough of both approaches to more fully compare, we'll see what we do going forward."

The next RQG book will be the 3 Volume slipcase Gods Of Glorantha (which is 7 books worth of material) 2 Large books with full cult writeups + the prosepedia, Once this is released there should be a number of other books/products that are virtually ready to go including the Sartar Sourcebook (no longer a boxed set) and the Guide to Dragon Pass.
He also mentioned some Spell Card Decks (1 for Spirit Magic and 3 for Rune Magic), and also in this catagory, I think, though mentioned much later were the Non-human pregens - which may only be a pdf release(? at least at first) - I think he also suggested they might be part of a Non-humans sourcebook, although there was no other mention of this...
The GMs Sourcebook was mentioned as being "in editing"
and the next few as "awaiting art" (which I think is the step between "editing" and "layout!)
- The Adventurer Journal (a "notebook" for recording both your adventures and the "sacred time" downtime experience & improvements.
- Jonstown Adventures (a follow up to the starter set adventures)

He then went on to list a whole load of other products, I think that at least the first few are ones for which complete manuscripts have been submitted, but they may still need editing and/or revision, others may still be in development, others may actually be further along the route but got missed earlier (just treat it as a nice surprise if they turn up earlier than you expected) No specific order that they would be worked on was given, and it was suggested that some products (Kralorela in particular) may have been commissioned "too early" in that it made little sense to provide a core rulebook giving you Char Gen centred around Dragon Pass and then follow it up with a book set half a continent away with little reason why the two areas should interact...
- The Great Dragon Pass Campaign (following the events from 1625 onwards)
- The Culbrea Sourcebook
- Dragon Pass Gazetteer (now I look at this, I don't recall if it was said how this would differ from the guidebook, or whether they are actually the same product?)

Also mentioned - Katrin Dirim has been working on a set of RQ tokens (all the creatures from the bestiary, all the Starter Set pregens - maybe others?) which will be both electronic (for VTT's) and as "actual" tokens for table top use (may be released as a number of sets)?
-There is a new edition of "Mythic Iceland" in the works (at the "Awaiting Art" stage I think) which will be a "Runequest" (but obviously not a "Glorantha" product.
-Work on the RQ Computer game is continuing, but Jason has stepped back from that as he felt he had little to add at this stage. He may re-engage with the team further down the line if required
So plenty in the pipeline!
Mike Mason touched briefly on a couple of other Chaosium non-RQ (and non Call of Cthulhu) projects in his session
Rivers of London is with Ben Aaronovich for approval. He has apparently been kept up to date with the project as it has progressed, so they are hopeful that there will be no sudden surprises here. System will be based on BRP, but because it is hoped it will appeal to non-gamer Rivers of London fans, should be simpler to pick up (it has fewer characteristics, for example)
The new edition of Pendragon had a quickstart/intrp released at GenCon, and is based on what Greg was planning for the system. There will also be an updated Grand Pendragon Campaign, which will be released as a set of smaller books covering distinct periods (so if you are only interested in the Grail period, you don't need to buy the whole thing and skip all the earlier."

Stimmt tatsächlich leise still und heimlich. Ohne Ankündigung auf der Homepage oder Facebookseite. Habe es auch nur durch Zufall entdeckt.Hoffentlich bleibts auch beim 26.8. und wird ein Tag vorher nicht wieder verschoben.

Das deutsche Bestiarium scheint verschoben zu sein, dass durch eine Mitarbeiter gesetzte Datum wird laut einem Dischord-Beitrag vom Verlag scheinbar nicht gehalten. Genaues wollt eman aber nicht sagen. Sehr Ärgerlich, da dies wirklich wichtig für das Spiel ist.

Schaue mir immer wieder die bilder des englischen Bestiariums im Netz an. Das hält mich etwas über Wasser. Ist echt schwer wenn man gerne loszocken will aber die Spieler keine Menschen spielen wollen. Wird mir eh immer ein rätsel bleiben warum nicht gleich alle drei wichtigen Bücher im Schuber auf deutsch rausgehauen wurden. Weiss nicht was daran so toll ist alles kleckerweise rauszubringen. Ich hoffe das Bestiarium kommt mal langsam.

Naja, dann hätten wir wohl heute noch gar nichts deutschen in den Händen. Ich weiß nicht ob das besser wäre.

Und bin ja gerade bei Glorantha gerade skeptisch, wenn alle Spieler Nichtmenschen spielen wollen. Zum einen weil in Glorantha die Aldryami und Mostali nicht einfach Standard-Elfen und Zwerge sind, und zum anderen weil sich IMHO die verschiedenen Gruppen nicht sonderlich gut verstehen.

Und was du nicht bekommst sind die Details für die Familiengeschichte der nichtmenschlichen Charaktere, die musst du die selber ausdenken oder anpassen.

Und auch im englischen erschienen die Bücher nicht zusammen und auf das dritte wichtige Buch, den Götterband Prosopedia, warten wir immer noch.

Och... nichts ist als SL lustiger als einen Zentaur zu sehen, der versucht, in einen niedrigen Teil einer Höhle zu gelangen, weil sie meinen, da ginge es weiter.
Auch bei "Die Gruppe bleibt nachts zusammen" ist der Zentaur lustig, weil es im Gasthaus bedeutet, dass alle im Stall schlafen statt in gemütlichen Betten. Hat schon Spaß gemacht - zumindest mir als SL. ^^

Von den Nichtmenschen, sind eigentlichn die Enten, die einzigen, die wirklich spielbar sind.

Alle Nichtmenschen sind spielbar, nur nicht sehr gut gemischt mit Menschen (oder als Exot in einer menschlichen Gruppe).
Eine REINE Uz-Gruppe ist toll! Auch eine REINE Aldryami- oder Mostali- oder Bestmen-Gruppe ist toll... nur mit Menschen gemischt macht es die Arbeit für den Spielleiter anstrengender.
Enten sind Orlanthi in anderer biologischer Form, das funktioniert am besten in einer Menschen-Gruppe.

Glorantha hat genug exotische Details, kulturelle Unterschiede und Aaahs und Ooohs auch wenn man nur mit Menschen spielt.

Gibt es denn einen aktuellen Stand zum deutschen Bestiarium? Das letzte was ich gelesen habe ist das das Buch es zur Spiel in Essen schafft. Bisher sehe ich dazu aber keine genaueren Infos ob das denn dann auch klappt.
